Hello

I'm a composer, performer, researcher, and educator, based in the North of England.

My work takes me from contemporary composition to jazz performance, with a lot in between. If you have questions - please get in touch!

Bio

Cameron McArthur (b. 1997) is a composer and multi-instrumentalist from the North-East of England.

His work as a composer focuses upon the experience of momentum in music, as well as ideas around perception, implication, and expectation. He is a currently completing a PhD in Composition at the University of York, under the tutelage of Thomas Simaku and Martin Suckling.

Recent performances include Psappha, Terra Invisus, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Twisted Spruce Symposium, Sound Thought Festival, The Arc Project, Diotima Quartet, Ligeti Quartet, Dark Inventions, Desmond Clarke, Lizzie Knatt, Jake Adams, and Lucy Havelock.

Beyond composition, Cameron is an active performer of contemporary and jazz music, and can be found at jazz clubs, theatres, and private events across the North of England. He is Director of Music at yorksound, a music-based people development company, and teaches at secondary, further and higher education levels.
